An all too common type of scammer in the copier industry is the “Toner Phoner”. These people will attempt to bilk businesses out of money by overcharging them for printer toner, goods or services.
Often, Toner Phoners will call companies claiming to be a representative from their regular supplier. They will try to persuade the person on the line to pay for supplies that the company didn’t order. An easy way to protect yourself from this ruse is to have only specific members of your staff order printer toner and copier supplies. You should also ask for the name, company and phone number of anyone unknown who tries to sell you supplies.
